The definition to the Hebrew word translated “oppressed” means “to crack in pieces, literally or figuratively: – break, bruise, crush, discourage, oppress, struggle together (Strongs). The context of the wording depicts setting free those Israelites broken by the literal slavery of their enemies; however, for today we can make an individual application to an enemy-induced affliction that has crushed our spirit and enslaved us with hopelessness.

Pray Psalm 142:5-7, “…Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.” Believe it, declare it, embrace it, and receive it—in Jesus name.
