Text: Deuteronomy 20; Genesis 22
“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen” (Genesis 22:14 KJV). Abraham’s declaration of Mount Moriah as a place the Lord provides was based in his faith spoken while walking in the wilderness plains: “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together”(Genesis 22:8 KJV). Literally Jehovah-jireh means Jehovah will see (to it). In other words, Jehovah ‘saw’ Abraham while on the plain and his needed provision; then Jehovah ‘saw to it’ that his need was met when on the mountain.
Recall the numerous times the Lord has provided for you and that you have truly never lacked. Let His peace settle in your spirit knowing that He not only sees where you are, but will provide when you get where you are going. Rejoice in that He is your Jehovah-jireh! Pray for those who are destitute and without the knowledge of Christ to submit to the salvation He has provided.
