Text: Deuteronomy 20; Revelation 22
One month…the discipline of denying yourself is now entering in its 30th day. And it has been a battle, especially over the past four days as the fear of man, pride, the Canaanite spirit, and Babylon were devoted to destruction. Some days have been more difficult than others: the humbling revelation of personal things that needed to be changed; bringing every thought into captivity; waging war in the heavens through deep, agonizing prayer that left you limp from the intercession. Ah, but today we eat of the trees found in the battlefield.
Remember the words to Joshua: “And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year” (Joshua 5:12 KJV). Note the transition of sustenance —daily manna received to the fruit of the land conquered.
Sit and shade yourself in God’s merciful provision on the battlefield. Scan the horizon and see all that you have marched through this last month, review your prayer journal and digest the acts of war where the Lord was so evident. Feast on the fruit, for you are in a transition. Once this victorious fruit is tasted there is no going back to simply gathering manna, but living on the fruit of the land is now your life. Embrace the words of Jesus spoken to the Twelve: “…My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” (John 4:34 KJV). Give Him praise!
