I have come to learn that doing something for God is not the same as working in what God is doing. Years ago, in studying Watchman Nee’s book Spiritual Authority the following quote spoke to me immensely even though I was unable to totally grasp all that it was saying.

“Thirdly, before a Biblical Pentecost, there must be a praying people, a people waiting on God” (Ravenhill, 1962, p. 145).
Malachi penned, “”Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 3:1 ESV). Even the casual Bible student can see the reference to John the Baptist as the first messenger and Jesus as the second.
