Rest in Jesus today and reflect on all He did in our service last night. Indeed, we were under the wings of the Almighty!
There were two conclusions Israel was to draw from their choice and redemption: 1) The Lord alone is God, He can raise up nations and he can put them down; and 2) He is faithful. However, that faithfulness can be a two-edged sword. On the one side He will never abandon His covenant of love; yet, on the other edge, rebellious people (regardless of nationality) will be judged for their sin. Therefore each individual Israelite needed to be careful in personally following the Lord’s commands.

Deuteronomy 7 is the text chapter for the session. We will take the rules of conquest given in this chapter and, through New Testament principles, make application for today. In context, Moses was preparing Israel to settle down in their promised land. Their “recent” history was anything but settled–four centuries in slavery and four decades in wanderings–and now different perils would come as they take residence in their inheritance.
